New video links to falcon smuggling. Upcoming festivals

We updated and added new video links on the Ongoing Falcon Smuggling page.

We link to news reports about this man, Jeffrey Lendrum, who was caught in Birmingham Airport en route to Dubai smuggling 14 Peregrine Falcons eggs in socks, next to his body.  In August 2010, he was convicted to serve a 30 month sentence for his smuggling activities.  We link to footage of Mr. Lendrum abseiling from a helicopter to steal falcon eggs from a cliffside nest in Canada.  Also video links to falcon smuggling in Russia and Central Asia.  This is ongoing and in UK the wildlife laws were changed a few years ago to accommodate the falconers – it looks like the situation is reverting to “the bad old days” as a prominent UK falcon specialist put it in a news report about Jeffrey Lendrum’s falcon smuggling conviction.

First sentenced to 30 months jail time … but in February 2011, the appeal court judge Sir Christopher Holland said the original 30-month sentence was “excessive” and cut the jail time down to 18 months … business as usual for the career egg thief Jefrey Lendrum.

Follow the Falcon – Find the Terrorist

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR FEATHERED COCAINE

The filmmakers follow Alan H. Parrot on his odyssey to fight illegal falcon smuggling to the Persian Gulf.  Through his Nature Conservation efforts Mr. Parrot received information on Osama Bin Laden’s whereabouts and did his best to convey the information to the US Government.  To his surprise, it turned out that the World’s most wanted Terrorist was not so wanted after all …

Feathered Cocaine casts light on the man-made decimation of falcons and prey in Central Asia and the wild behavior of man obsessed by birds of prey.

Al-Qaeda’s No 1,  Osama Bin Laden – is an obsessed falconer and the filmmakers interview a man who goes regularly falconry hunting with UBL in a place few suspect the Terrorist Mastermind to be in.  Those supposed to hunt Mr Bin Laden do not act on the explosive info presented in the film.
